Favorite Things. . .

Little boys with no shirts. . .there's just somethin about them. The little back muscles, arm muscles, shoulder muscles, and diaper stickin out of the pantsas they go about their little boy business. One of my favorite things.

Listening to Trey recite the words to "Brown Bear Brown Bear" and "Quick as a Cricket." One of my favorite things.
Watching my husband be a daddy. One of my favorite things. Watchin him throw "hot cakes" across the kitchen to the kids plates. Yep, favorite thing.

Another of my favorite things this week was watching GooF take our children sledding down their first big hill. They named it "rocket run" and Porter's face was caked with ice chunks after his first (and last) trip down rocket run. Soon after, we moved to a smaller hill. Trey kept saying, "don't want to sled. . .don't want to sled. . don't want to sled." Ainsley enjoyed every minute of it, and they didn't want to leave. . .

These are a few of my favorite things. And if I was in the Sound of Music I would go on to sing, "when the kids bite, when the kids scream". . .er, isn't that how it goes :)

Great Read.

Great Americans. Great History.

Times. These are the times I will cherish. These are the times when I occasionally need to leave the house for "me time" when GooF walks in the door. These are the times I try to enjoy. These are the times to have toys strewn about. And so, as the TIME draws near to move, I have been thinking about the type of home I want. I want a home that moms feel welcome to stop by ANYTIME! I want a home where my kids can just be kids and their friends can come and be kids.

Excuse this House

Some houses try to hide the fact

That children shelter there,

Ours boasts it quite openly,

The signs are everywhere.

For smears are on the windows,

Little smudges are on the doors.

I should apologize, I guess,

For toys strewn on the floor.

But I sat down with my children

And we played and laughed and read.

And if the doorbell doesn't shine,

Their eyes will shine instead.

For when at times

I'm forced to choose

The one job or the other,

I'd like to cook and clean and scrub,

But first I'll be a mother.

And most importantly, it is TIME to make sure we are living out this verse that is above our door. "As for me and my house we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15

Now, it's sleep time. . .
