Just another day in. . .

Paradise?!?!?!?!

Our mucky, slushy drive to preschool this morning was the highlight of my day. Why? Most definitely NOT because of the weather. More so, because of these 3 blessings. . .You see, my beloved minivan is spending its' second night at the repair shop or at the "minivan hotel" as we call it around here. So, I got to drive the Saturn this morning (which made me VERY thankful for my minivan). 3 coats. . check. 6 shoes on. . .check. Backpack. . .check. Porter grabbed 4 shovels, his toy gun, and I began the task of buckling them up. Seriously, I could not squish my hand between the carseats to buckle them in. When I eventually did, I thought, "How will I ever get them out of there?" As I began driving I felt a very cold breeze. Let's just say that I now know why there's a LOCK button up front so that the backseat riders CANNOT unroll windows on their own. I decided to forgo the lock button and let them have some fun with the windows on our ride to preschool. They let the snow come in, caught it on their tongues, shot pretend deer with Porter's gun, and accidentally hit me on the head with a plastic shovel. Whew. I did manage to get Ainsley out of her carseat and in to preschool. Before I knew, it was time to pick her up. And, we were late. Thankfully she was ALL SMILES when I picked her up and I said, "Sorry I'm so late sweetie." She said, "You weren't late mommy. The other mommies were just early because they were in a hurry." Thanks Ainsley girl. Whew. Speaking of things Ainsley says, tonight I said, "God makes our bodies work in amazing ways." (we were talking about elbows and wrists) She said, "Just like He's amazing!" I'm so glad she knows what an amazing God we have! On to our ride home. . . our 3rd child is falling asleep these days on his own in his big boy bed, without even crying, so I did not want him to fall asleep on the ride home. Thus me saying, "Wake him up kids. . .keep him awake!!"

"We can't mommy! His eyes won't open!" "Let me sleep!"Sweet Trey. Apparently he doesn't want to have morning breath :)

Oh, for some NOT ME fun. . .

I DID NOT tell Porter to stop putting his toy gun out the window when I saw a cop car

I DID NOT have to pull over the van this week and discipline one of my children

I DID NOT run and hide in the minivan with my husband while we were playing hide and seek with the kids. NOT US!

I DID NOT lick the coolwhip out of the coolwhip bowl. . then resort to using my finger to get the bowl clean. NOT ME!!!

I DID NOT witness Trey eating half a bag of baby carrots cooked and a large container of mandarin oranges for his lunch.

Lastly, I DID NOT cry while reading that Jack died in the Laura and Mary books.

Ah, isn't it BLISSful when they get along?!

Just another day in Paradise snowy SD!

Or I guess it's more like 15 pictures are worth 15,000 words. . .

BK Kids and Barbie

This morning after dentist appts, we went out for a Burger King breakfast with daddy! Even after he left for work we sat in our booth and watched the trucks go by. . .garbage trucks, tow trucks, fire engines, city buses, etc. It was one of those mornings that I just felt blessed to be out and about with my 3 little ones. The BK crowns were a big hit too :)

Praise God that as I was crossing an intersection this morning I stopped in time for a car that was running a red light. Thank you to all of you that pray for our family!

Trey has started to say so many new words and has started putting words together. . .his first words together being, "Get it." :)

Ever since Ainsley was little, her money has gone straight to her savings account. Recently, we started letting her save some of it in her piggy bank, and earn some by putting her clothes away, making her bed, etc. We went on a girly date this wknd . . . did I mention I love spending time with just Ainsley?! "We're the girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls, girls." She spent her own money on this barbie and daddy is completely fascinated with it! It changes from purple to pink in hot/cold water. . .and it even came with dolphins that have color changing flowers on them

Just in case you were wondering, Barbies are way cooler than they used to be :) And I should know. Don't tell anyone, but I played with them all through middle school. . .shhh.

Valentines Weekend. . .

Our Valentines Weekend started with a party for the kids at a friends house. . .making a craft, playing games, and decorating a cookie. The kids and moms had a great time! We made heart shaped pizzas for supper that night. . . and heart shaped french toast the next morning! My niece, Taetum Elizabeth, turned 5 this weekend! I remember the day she was born. . .my sister was in labor and I couldn't drive here fast enough! Our babies are growing up! We celebrated her birthday at a motel. . .some pool party fun. . .knocking over Grampa, Porter's 1st time in the hottub, playing shark, watching me jump in twirling. . .bet you wish you could've seen that! And Uncle GooF sang "Happy Birthday" to her 5 TIMES!
When my mom handed me the key to our motel suite at dinner, I asked my husband if he would like to "forgo our individual rooms and spend a night with me in our fantasy suite" (yes, I'm a Bachelor fan). Looks like someone else (who likes his place as the youngest and wants to keep it that way) thought the bed in the "fantasy suite" belonged to him though. . .Thanks mom and dad :)And thanks GooF for the new song on my blog. . .that was very sweet and romantic of you :) I have celebrated 10 Valentines with you, and it seems like just yesterday that you and Dan bargained with the florist to get Jenny and I flowers and Bee Mine stuffed bees :) Was that 10 years ago we sent you boys on a scavenger hunt in the cold to ask you to Twirp?! Thanks for being such a supportive husband and involved daddy. . . bench pressing 80 pounds of kid. . .
I mean, who else buys coolwhip in a can on the same day as me when we've never bought it before?! :)my valentine! And who else gets worked up when we're low on milk?! :) my valentine! (apparently Porter does too, since he saw an empty milk jug today and said, "This is TERRIBLE!")
Our youngest has had a shoe fetish lately. Just a little fact about me. . .I used to like shoe stores more than toy stores :) Mmm. . .the smell (of new ones that is), the selection, I love them too Trey.Along with a fetish with the things on the bathroom counter. . .
Apparently big brother thinks he should adorn little brother with hats instead of shoes. . .any resemblence between brothers?Spring is IN THE AIR today. We could hear the birds chirping!!!! So out we went. . .
And in we came. . .Porter was so excited to write his name!! And count to 23 (with a few mixed up teens)!
I really wish this picture came with SOUND. . .you can imagine!

I love you, family!

A close second!!!

If you're visiting my blog for the first time, via Mckmama's blog, WELCOME!! I love her "name that photo contests" and was so excited when she said I came in a close second. . . .I had to click on Flip Flop Mama, just to make sure it was really me! And, for the 3 other faithful people (well, maybe it's more like 20) that read my blog, I'll be back to regular blogging soon :)

Like mother, like daughter

Every night when I tuck Ainsley in, I read her a chapter of "Laura and Mary" (aka Little House on the Prairie series). Tonight Porter wanted to listen too and Ainsley said, "If I even hear one little peep out of you Porter. . ." and then she started lecturing him on "instructions" and "trusting him." Obviously she's heard me talking to Porter at naptime (thus the one little peep out of you remark), and today when I came in to check on him in the bathroom and there was soap all over the rug (thus the trusting him remark). OK, so if I catch myself ever saying the peep remark again I will be sure to get the giggles. This is my new FAVORITE PHOTO of the kids. . .love their little profiles and Porter's chubby fingers :) "Like my mustache?"

He really is a messy hands on kid :)

Speaking of hands on children. . .

A shout out to the Gramma's today. . . Grammy brought us "Chinese Chicken" for lunch (Porter's favorite). . .And we received a package in the mail from Gramma Becky. . .THANKS for brightening our day!

The cherubs today. . .Ainsley at 5 yrs

Porter (and his toy frog) at 3 and 1/2

And Trey at 18 months. . .

That's all for now. . .
